Job Title: Inboxologist Physician Assistant (PA) / Nurse Practitioner (NP)Department: Clinic Position Type: Full-Time FLSA: Exempt Reports To: Director, Advanced Practice Providers & Clinical Operations Direct Reports: NoneJob SummaryThe Inboxologist Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive patient care and clinical support at Trillium Health. This role is responsible for managing EPIC in-basket communications, including lab results, refills, and patient messages, while also performing same-day patient visits and providing provider coverage during absences.This position serves across both primary and specialty care areas, including HIV/Hepatitis C, PrEP/PEP, LGBTQ+ health, MOUD, and sexual health services. The Inboxologist role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and adaptability to support continuity of care and an exceptional patient experience.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPatient Care (Approximately 50%)• Delivers care across Trillium Health's primary services, including HIV, PrEP, PEP, Hepatitis C, sexual health, LGBTQ+ care, and opioid use disorder treatment. • Provides provider coverage during call-outs, PTO, FMLA leaves of absence, and other provider absences. • Educates patients, families, and staff; supports education program development. • Advises on nutrition, stress, sexuality, contraception, smoking cessation, and substance use. • Collaborates with physicians to manage nursing interventions. • Pursues continuing education relevant to the role. • Conducts peer and chart reviews in accordance with agency policy.Inbox Management (Approximately 50%)• Handles Epic in-basket tasks, including but not limited to lab results, prescription refills, and patient messages. • Provides inbox coverage for providers during absences to maintain continuity of care. • Works collaboratively with providers, specialists, pharmacists, and care team members to coordinate patient care. • Assesses patient concerns, triages appropriately within scope of practice, and escalates as needed. • Processes medication refills, updates prescriptions, and consults pharmacists when required. • Follows clinical guidelines, evidence-based best practices, and organizational policies.Required Skills/Abilities• Minimum two (2) years of primary care experience as a board-certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR); Epic experience preferred. • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. • Ability to effectively triage patient concerns and prioritize clinical tasks. • Strong collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills. • Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills. • Ability to work independently while supporting a multidisciplinary care team. • Commitment to providing affirming, inclusive, patient-centered care to diverse patient populations.Education and ExperienceNurse Practitioner Requirements• M.S. degree from an NLN-accredited nursing school. • Current New York State licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. • National Nurse Practitioner certification (ANA or equivalent), adult or family certification preferred. • Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience may be considered. • Unrestricted DEA registration. • Current BLS certification. • Experience in community-based healthcare preferred. • Must participate in a valid practice agreement with a collaborating physician, where required by New York State regulations.Nurse Practitioners with More Than 3,600 Hours of Approved Experience May• Practice under a written agreement with a collaborating physician; or • Practice independently while maintaining a collaborative relationship with a qualified physician or New York State licensed healthcare facility.Physician Assistant Requirements• Graduate of an Accreditation Review Commission (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from a New York State-recognized program. • Current New York State licensure and certification as a Physician Assistant. • Unrestricted DEA registration. • Current BLS certification. • Submit practice agreement to the New York State Education Department within 90 days of employment. • Maintain all required credentials necessary for continued practice at Trillium Health.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
