The Medical Assistant provides quality healthcare to patients including assisting in examination and treatment under the direction of a physician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Practices independently and as needed, collaborates with nurse practitioners or supervises physician assistants, and/or other health care providers.
- Assists Physicians/NPs/PAs/Nurses in providing quality health care to patients.
- Ensures appropriate forms for documentation are included in medical records.
- Collect patient data by measuring vital signs (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Temperature, Respirations, Weight) for adult and pediatric patients.
- Records information in the electronic medical record.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Maintains inventory and assists with ordering medical supplies and materials.
- Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests under physician instructions.
- Maintains and sanitizes medical instruments and examination rooms as required by TCA Health, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Abides by all HIPPA HIPAA guidelines in protection protecting patient privacy.
- May assist with appointment schedules and record maintenance.
- Keys data into computer to update patient records.
- May Provide health Screenings and assist in the community as needed
- Sanitize and sterilize instruments and equipment
- Inventory and ordering of medical and office supplies
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking Behavioral Health Therapists for our clinic locations in Altgeld Gardens, Hegewisch, and Hammond. The Behavioral Health Therapist is a member of the interdisciplinary team and contributes to the comprehensive health care services offered by TCA Health. The Behavioral Health Therapist provides services to individuals, families, and groups to assist with improvement of social functioning and maximizing strengths. The Therapist interacts and interfaces with the community in diverse roles of advocacy and overall planning for service utilization. This position may be a regular full-time or a regular part-time employee. This position will be on-site.
- Behavioral Health Therapist ResponsibilitiesPerform bio-psychosocial assessments and diagnosis of behavioral health clients.
- Provide effective treatment planning to assist clients in successfully achieving goals.
- Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.
- Assist in the detection of “at risk” patients and the development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
- Initiate treatment interventions in individual, family, and/or group counseling settings.
- Effectively and clearly document client interactions and referrals in a timely manner as required.
- Completes all necessary statistical reports and attend to accuracy.
- Regularly participate in Behavioral Health Department, TCA Health Staff, and other meetings as assigned.

- Exams, diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries of infants, children, adolescents and young adults birth to age 18.
- Examines patients and determines need for x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests.
- Interprets examinations findings and test results and implements pediatric treatment plans.
- Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains data through interviews.
- Supports health promotion and disease prevention activities to enable each child to reach full potential.
- Monitors physical and psychosocial growth and development.
- Conducts age-appropriate screening.
- Provides advice and education for patients and parents regarding appropriate preparation for predictable developmental challenges.
- Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
- Ability to use electronic medical records to keep track of patient visits and information related to the physician/patient encounter.
- Provides care consistent with the quality standards of the organization, Participates in peer review activities and works with administration to reduce risk and maintain patient safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Board eligible/Board certified pediatrician:
- Knowledge of principles and practice of preventative medicine.
- Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and to community health centers.
- Knowledge of structure and function of community health centers.
- Skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with other employees, patients and general public.

The APRN/NP/PA supports physicians and patients by providing advanced nursing care to patients presenting with uncomplicated/acute clinical problems. The APRN/NP/PA provides operational assistance to assure quality of care and service in a cost-effective manner which is consistent with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the organizational practice guidelines. Full-time and part-time option available.
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities.
- Documents patient history and performs physical examinations on patients presenting with routine uncomplicated and acute medical/surgical conditions to establish baseline health profile.
- Performs and/or assists in the administration of routine diagnostic/laboratory studies, clinical and therapeutic procedures.
- Develops presumptive nursing diagnoses and implements treatment plans based on advanced nursing assessment/problem identification consistent with established practice guidelines.
- Documents assessments of the patient’s health and illness status.
- Evaluates patient responses to treatment plans and redirects patient care based on findings.
- Assesses patient clinical/health education needs. Provides education regarding health matters using clear and compassionate communication and ensures patient understanding. Refers patients to clinical/health education classes for further services as necessary.
- Provide telecare to assigned patients, as necessary.
- Regularly participate in Clinical Department, TCA Health Staff, and other meetings as assigned.
