Job Summary:
The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is responsible for delivering direct dental care and associated services to patients under the professional supervision of the Dentist. He/she will also provide support to the front office and deliver quality and compassionate care to every patient. The RDH is responsible for ensuring adherence to all dental office policies and procedures to include but not limited to JCAHO, CILA and OSHA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by Dental Director and must demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC/BRDC.
Essential Duties:
1. Build good rapport with patients to assure patients and responsible parties have a pleasant experience before, during, and after dental treatment is given. Assists dentist during patient’s care as needed and directs patient to the appropriate staff member and area following treatment to complete the checkout process.
2. Educate patients with oral hygiene instructions and provide educational material as appropriate to the care delivered.
3. Verify patient’s medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaint and review medical and social history to include dental and oral hygiene issues prior to dental treatment. Obtain blood pressure and pulse on patients age 18 and older. Obtain body weight on pediatric and adult patients. Record information accurately in eClinicalWorks (eCW). Document patient information, treatment plan, procedures, and progress notes in Open Dental.
4. Complete screening procedures such as assessment of patient’s oral health conditions to check for oral abnormalities, review of medical history, and perform oral cancer screening and head and neck inspection. Chart dental conditions appropriately.
5. Perform operatory set-up by instruction or as anticipated for dental procedure. Clinical support to dental provider as needed during procedures. Obtain dental x-rays as instructed. Anticipatory knowledge and awareness is necessary.
6. Remove hard and soft deposits of stains, calculus, and plaque from all surfaces of teeth. Scaling and hand scaling, and root planning using appropriate instruments. Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to teeth arrest dental decay.
7. Maintenance, inspection, and sterilization of dental instruments, equipment, and operatories. Maintain competence in the use of various clinical instruments, technologies, machinery, and equipment.
8. Participate in local community events to provide dental education and raise awareness about available dental care at BRDC.
Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) works on a full-time basis for BRMC, including provision of behavioral health care, education/teaching, and related administrative duties. As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, the provider will devote his/her professional services to the benefit of the BRMC and will seek to incorporate all his/her clinical activities into the practice of the BRMC. The provider and BRMC will negotiate any agreement for clinical practice outside of the BRMC, providing such practice does not interfere with provider's obligations to the Center.
Essential Job Duties & Functions:
Under medical direction, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner performs specialized duties at Blue Ridge Medical Center or in home settings, performs mental health assessments, manages the care of patients within the field of psychiatric mental health, and provides health education to these patients, specific to their needs. The essential job functions are as follows:
1) Provides mental health care to patients with a psychiatric diagnosis.
2) Provides assessments, crisis response, medication, direct mental health services, and mental health record documentation, as required.
3) Formulates an initial diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals with a mental health diagnosis.
4) Monitors changes of clients with persistent mental illness
5) Provides support, psychotherapy, and supportive counseling for clients in regards to psychosocial, environmental, and physical well-being.
6) Provides health education materials for patients, caregivers and family, as well as staff.
7) Develops and carries out data collection and recording of data for BRMC clinical improvement initiatives (Meaningful Use, Patient Centered Medical Home, UDS, Joint Commission) and manages associated PDSA cycles.
8) Works to integrate mental health and substance abuse services with primary care services through consultation with other BRMC providers.
9) Consult with a contractual psychiatrist by reviewing cases as appropriate.
10) Refer patients for specialty care as appropriate.
11) Works together with practice team to care for patient, offering direction to the team and education to the team to improve patient outcomes and team performance.
