Program Goals
The Advanced Practice Clinician Residency in Family Practice and Community Health has the following goals:
Patients
The patient population varies by program site but can be broadly defined as low-income and underserved patients of all ages. Our patients are primarily Hispanic, Spanish-speaking migrant/seasonal farmworkers, and their family members. However, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinics serve patients from a wide variety of races, ethnicities, and cultures. The patients served at our clinics often cannot access care anywhere else. The majority of our patients are on Medicaid or have no dental insurance, many of whom are living below the federal poverty level. For more information about our patients, view patient information in our Community Report.
Federally Qualified Health Centers participate in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. Clinicians who serve at least two years full-time at an FQHC can receive up to $75,000 in tax-free loan repayment (or up to $100,000 in some Substance Use Disorder Workforce categories). Half-time service is also eligible at a reduced award. Eligibility extends to NPs, PAs, CNMs, CRNAs, and physicians with qualifying education debt.
