Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry

We are a small non Medi Cal clinic with a behavioral health component comprised of students and associates. This is a telehealth opportunity.

A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse who diagnoses, treats, and manages mental health conditions, including prescribing medication and providing psychotherapy across the lifespan. They conduct assessments, order diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans, often working independently or collaboratively with physicians.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assessment & Diagnosis: Conducting comprehensive physical and psychosocial evaluations to diagnose acute and chronic mental health conditions.
• Medication Management: Prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring psychotropic medications and therapeutic interventions.
• Psychotherapy: Providing individual, group, or family psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
• Treatment Planning: Developing and implementing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Crisis Intervention: Providing emergency psychiatric care and managing acute situations.
• Patient Education: Educating patients and families about conditions, treatment options, and medication side effects.
• Collaboration: Working with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, therapists, and primary care providers.
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate, timely medical records and progress notes in compliance with regulations.
