The NP/PA Fellowship Clinical Faculty is a teaching clinician with direct patient care responsibility, also responsible for the management of fellows within the NP/PA Fellowship Program under the direction of the NP/PA Fellowship Program Director. The NP/PA Fellowship Clinical Faculty position is expected to carry a patient panel and provide direct patient care for at least 50% of FTE. Responsible for precepting oversight of panels of the licensed NP/PA fellows in the Fellowship program.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Specific Tasks/Duties Include: ·
Maintain adequate office hours for fellow consultation and advisement.
· Coordinate with Program Director, the fellows’ Quality Improvement Project by communicating project expectations, and incremental deadlines.
· Determine date and time of Quality Improvement Project with Presentations with Program Director.
· Work at the direction of the Medical Director and Program Director to help develop learning objectives related to clinical practice.
· Instructional responsibilities include direct patient care with fellows in clinic as required, assessment of fellow outcomes.
· Attend all required meetings related to the fellowship, which at times, may include lunch meetings.
· Team building events and meetings are an important part of the success of the Fellowship Program and attendance of these events should be a priority.
· Take appropriate history and physical examination of patients.
· Order pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy according to scope of practice guidelines.
· Obtain supervising physician's consultation when problems presented are outside scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient's care according to the PA/NP Standardized Procedures.
· Communicate effectively with the patients while involved with their health care, including providing appropriate patient education while answering questions and in history taking.
· Demonstrate competent knowledge in delivering health care to patients through the peer review processes including chart review, by interactions with physician preceptors and by working collaboratively with support staff and all staff of SCHC.
· Become an integral part of the clinical staff through participation in Medical Staff meetings, PA/NP meetings, and other committees of SCHC.
· Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Current unrestricted California license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
· Minimum 3 years of practice as a provider or graduation from SCHC Postgraduate Fellowship.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical position or graduation from SCHC Postgraduate Fellowship.
· Demonstrates commitment to utilizing Best Practices to enhance a learning environment and serve as a professional role model to the NP/PA Fellowship
Program fellows.
· Demonstrates expertise as primary care provider providing high quality care to populations served by the health center.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience on electronic medical records.
· Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and electronic means.
· BCLS certification.
· Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor’s office.
