A licensed practitioner (MD, DO, PA, or NP) under the guidance of the Supervising Physician (if an Advanced Practice Provider) or Medical Director of School Based Health, coordinates and implements the practice of the School Based Health program. The medical provider provides comprehensive healthcare and services to students including but not limited to complete physical examinations, immunizations, acute visits, and reproductive health visits. The medical provider also supports parents/guardians in caring for their children.
Additionally, this position will work closely with SBH Leadership and Department of Education (DOE) leadership. The medical provider will build relationships with each school’s principal, assistant principal, deans, parent coordinators and other key DOE contacts.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining accurate EHR records, data entry into DOE database for patient visits, maintaining the medication and vaccine inventory, managing VFC vaccines, maintaining vaccine refrigerator temperature logs, attending emergencies within the school campus.
Federally Qualified Health Centers participate in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. Clinicians who serve at least two years full-time at an FQHC can receive up to $75,000 in tax-free loan repayment (or up to $100,000 in some Substance Use Disorder Workforce categories). Half-time service is also eligible at a reduced award. Eligibility extends to NPs, PAs, CNMs, CRNAs, and physicians with qualifying education debt.
