Pediatric ED Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

UT Southwestern is seeking a Nocturnist Pediatric Advanced Care Provider (APP) to join their multidisciplinary team within the Pediatric Emergency Medicine division at Children's Hospital in Dallas. This role involves providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients with diverse illnesses and injuries in an emergency department setting. The position requires a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise.

• Providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients who present with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries
• Working with pediatric patients in the emergency department setting

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat, manage, educate, consult, and coordinate health promotion and care for patients and their families
• Diagnose and treat critically ill patients, develop and manage treatment plans, and perform advanced procedures
• Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status
• Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results
• Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training
• Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures
• Facilitate/participate in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance
• Collaborate in research projects and protocols; and routinely apply evidence based best practices to patient care

Compensation

• New Grad Rate $136,500

Shift & Schedule

• Variable 13 shifts including weekends and holidays

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing or Higher degree and Documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population
• OR Master's degree graduate of a Master's or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program
• Advanced Practice RN (CPNP-AC) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• OR National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C) upon hire
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire
• Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in the ED preferred
