Physician Assistant - Family Practice

The Nurse Practitioner works under the direct supervision and the general direction of the Medical Director. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary care medical services within the scope of their expertise, for which they are licensed and certified to perform and in accordance with the expressed and written authorization of the Medical Director. The Nurse Practitioner is considered an Advanced Practiced Provider (APP).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respect and abide by the mission and mission statement
• Diagnose and treat routine medical problems as part of regular clinic responsibilities.
• Deal with clients of all age groups and all kinds of medical problems.
• Utilize in-clinic referral system to other primary care, prenatal, wellness practitioners and other support services.
• Utilize out-of-clinic referral network to specialized services for clinic clients.
• Review charts and discuss cases with their physician collaborator and or Medical Director.
• The nurse practitioner will be responsible for the preparation of a complete medical record for each patient’s contact as described in existing medical policies.
• The nurse practitioner is authorized to collect, order and interpret lab work and diagnostic studies
• The nurse practitioner may dispense prescription drugs and devices in accordance with the terms defined by the Medical Director
• The nurse practitioner may independently initiate the oral transmission of a valid prescription order in the name of an associate physician in accordance with the terms defined by the Medical Director
• The nurse practitioner may furnish Schedule III controlled substances per the Center’s policies regarding scheduled drugs or controlled substances and only with the expressed and written authorization of the Medical Director.
• The nurse practitioner is authorized to order therapies such as occupational, speech, and physical therapy, and psychological counseling.
• Participates in CQI and HRSA 330 mandated performance requirements.
• Participates in off-site meetings as necessary.
• Participate in community events.
• Diagnose and treat routine medical problems as part of regular clinic responsibilities
• Complete crisis assessment as needed for the clinic to assess danger to self, danger to others and/or grave disability.
• Serve as a consultant to Dental and Behavioral Health
• Provide in-services to staff on medical issues as needed and requested by Medical Director.
• Accurately and appropriately completes medical record documentation within timely guidelines set by RRHC policy.
• Accurately codes all services for legal, clinical and payor compliance.
• Knowledge and adherence to safety and conduct rules, other regulations and the policies and procedures of Redwoods Rural Health Center.
• Assist with disease collaborative as needed.
• Deal with clients of all age groups and all kinds of medical problems.
• Attend regular chart and case review sessions with all concerned clinic staff.
• Attend staff meetings, training, workshops, and conferences as needed and directed by the Medical Director.
• Assist with community outreach efforts.
• Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of care.
• Comply with the terms of the employment agreement.
• Participate in Provider meetings as requested / required.
• See all patients scheduled that are within the licensure scope of practice.

Responsibilities also include maintaining up to date credentialing and privileging documentation to RRHC HR and providing immediately upon request.

Nurse Practitioners will sign and follow the NP Core Standardized Procedure document upon hire.
