Daily Expectations and Duties – Overview
- Diagnosing and treatment.
- Performing medical examinations.
- Administrating or directing health treatment procedures as appropriate.
- Administrating or directing the administration of MAT and other health treatment procedures as appropriate.
- Ordering labs or tests as necessary.
- Consults with the CMO, Medical Director, and other Behavioral Health Providers on treatment of patients to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Provides timely progress notes and other medical reports on all patients.
- Assists with developing and/or implementing in-service training programs designed to upgrade staff's knowledge regarding health concerns and new technology in the health care treatment, including substance treatment.
- Develops policies and procedures regarding medical services and medical components of activities including research, service evaluation and quality assurance in collaboration with the Medical Director.
- Provides prescriptions for medication within the scope of practice in collaboration with the Medical Director.
- On an on-going basis, collaborates with staff of other clinical departments within the Agency to afford a team approach to client care promoting continuity and unified goal setting.
Qualifications
- Master's degree and completion of accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
- Current licensure and Certificate of Authority to practice as a Physician
- Assistant in the state of Ohio required. DOT Cert. and X-Waiver preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, all candidates should meet the following:
- BLS & ACLS certification
- 2+ years' experience in family practice environment preferred
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, but also able to collaborate effectively with other staff members to provide quality patient care
- Behavioral health experience desirable
- Maintains required training in accordance with the Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment Act (MAT Act)

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICIAN
- Performs professional services at other facilities as assigned.
- Supervises Methadone/Suboxone Administration.
- Provides patients with primary Healthcare including: diagnosing and treatment, performing medical examinations, and administrating or directing health treatment procedures as appropriate.
- Assists with implementing programs, policies, and priorities established by the Board of Directors.
- Supervises and directs the activities, directly or through delegation to the CMO, of responsibilities of the Medical Department Staff.
- Coordinates activities with other governmental and private groups concerned with the planning and delivery of the agency's services.
- Performs administrative functions, which will provide accountability for funds received and expended and assure that all regulations and requirements are satisfied.
- Provides sufficient information for determining needs about services, monitoring staff and program activity and evaluating the attainment of objectives.
- Participates in program development, administration and management functions.
- Provides case management to include progress notes and other medical reports on all patients.
- Consults with agency staff members regarding patient treatment needs to insure quality of care.
- Consults with the CMO and other professionals on treatment of patients and other physicians to provide medical opinion and to insure continuity of patient care.
- Assists/supervises nursing staff and provides either verbal or written recommendations regarding patient care.
- Assists with developing and/or implementing in-service training programs designed to upgrade staff's knowledge regarding health concerns and new technology in the health care treatment, including substance treatment.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PHYSICIAN
Licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio; Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration/Certification; Admission privileges in at least one Mahoning County hospital; Certification by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) as a Medical Review Officer (MRO) preferred.
