The Dental Director serve as the organization’s chief dental officer (CDO) providing leadership and direction for dental services and clinical quality consistent with organizational goals and strategies. Responsibilities include working with the Dental Clinic Manager on dental service and program development; setting clinical standards/guidelines and quality metrics; developing collaborative referral and consultative care, and championing clinical performance improvement. Works with the CEO and Manager of QI, Compliance and Risk to fully implement the risk management plan and participates in risk management-related activities.

1. Coordinate the development of clinical goals, outcomes, and strategies for prevention, acute care, and chronic disease management.

3. Lead the adoption of new technology, e.g EHR, digital radiography, to improve patient information and care across the continuum (referrals, hospitals, medical).
4. Work collaboratively with the Dental Clinic Manager and other health center leadership team members to design and implement programs and services to meet identified population needs.
5. Work with the Dental Clinic Manager to ensure business objectives are met through improved access and monitoring of productivity.
6. Provide leadership for “best practices” and optimal utilization of resources.
7. Lead initiatives related to disease management to improve clinical outcomes and increased payments for care coordination.
8. Lead by developing and embracing the organization’s strategy and mission to all staff; ensure activities are value-added and aligned with community/market need.
9. Recruit, supervise, and manage dental provider resources including credentialing, annual appraisals, and peer review.
10. Provide direct clinical care as an integral member of provider staff.
Job Summary: Provide primary and/or psychiatric care for patients throughout the life span. Duties include diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health and/or psychiatric problems, along with preventive care focused on health risk factor reduction. Provides psychiatric health education, recommendations for counseling, and emotional support.

1.0 Perform history taking, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment planning within scope of licensure; perform preventive care and guidance within prescribed guidelines.

3.0 Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and treat clinical problems; make referrals to staff physicians and specialists as necessary.
4.0 Coordinate, review and manage individual patient care in consultation with the staff physicians and other members of the health care team.
5.0 Maintain proper documentation in EHR according to clinical guidelines and operational procedures.
6.0 Comply with organizational policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
