OtolaryngologistsJob Summary
The Otolaryngology (ENT) Division is recruiting for an APP to join our ENT team. The APP will provide direct clinical care for patients treated in the Ear Nose and Throat clinic, as well as other sites of care for the division of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. Works closely under the supervision of our Otolaryngology Physicians and will work in close communication with the division's multidisciplinary team which includes audiology, speech and language pathology, nursing, and social work. Participation and coordination of educational training of future APP providers is also an option for interested providers.
Essential Functions:
Monitors and evaluates medical condition of patient and under the supervision of a physician and in collaboration with other disciplines and standards of care or applying appropriate protocols, make decisions regarding treatment changes. Refers patient to specialized services as needed. (20%)
Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations. Performs appropriate indicated procedures as part of patient evaluation and treatment. (20%)
Orders and administers appropriate medications within the limits of the appropriate statutory limitations or refers patient to a caregiver in a specialty area. Initiates, performs or directs other healthcare professionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests. (15%)
Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records. (15%)
Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by the supervising medical staff. (10%)
May be assigned to perform lead work and/or involvement in clinical coordination, health station management or responsibility for special projects which may encompass protocol development, management planning, scheduling and other administrative tasks as necessary to support practice environment. (10%)
Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings. Utilizes the principles and practices of effective communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies. (5%)
Follows established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. (5%)
Education:
Master's Degree Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years related clinical experience preferred
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
Colorado NP or PA license - Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical principals and procedures.
Knowledge of community resources for appropriate procedures.
Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.
Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments.
Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Ability to prepare accurate reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
