Physician Assistant - Adult

We are currently recruiting full-time Family Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. You will be part of a dynamic health care team that provides IM, FM, Peds, OBGYN, Dental and Behavioral Health at three different locations within the county. As we are FQHC-LAL as well as a part of St. Louis County Government, we qualify for PSLF and are an approved site for National Health Service Corp Loan Repayment Program among our many benefits.

Position Summary:

Perform all duties required to assess and treat common adult, pediatric, and OB/GYN conditions in a primary care setting.

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

1. Ability, skills, and knowledge to recognize and treat adult and ideally pediatric and routine OB/GYN patients.
2. Strong computer skills with capability to utilize Electronic Health Records.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to multitask and work cohesively in a fast-paced office environment.
5. Ability to coordinate patient flow and manage multiple tasks at once.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

1. Makes appropriate referrals.
2. Provides life support and emergency evaluation/care in response to life threatening situations in the absence of the physician and/or other appropriate health professional.
3. Compiles complete and interval health histories on patients within their scope.
4. Performs complete physical assessment as well as physicals directed towards episodic or interval concerns for patients within their scope may include, but not limited to, pelvic, rectal, male genitalia and prenatal exams.
5. Selects, performs and/or interprets the appropriate routine laboratory and diagnostic tests within scope.
6. Instructs and counsels patients regarding physical and mental health to include but not limited to diet, health maintenance, therapy, normal growth and development, and family planning.
7. Makes diagnosis and treatment decisions including medication prescribing within scope of practice.
8. Maintains appropriate records; utilizes the tracking system to follow up on patients.
9. Collaborates with a physician according to Federal, State, and St Louis County FQHC-LAL guidelines and agreements. Has a signed Collaborative Agreement with an St Louis County FQHC-LAL physician of the appropriate scope of practice.
10. Contributes ideas for improvement for St Louis County FQHC-LAL.
11. Participates in record review and quality improvement programs.
12. Participates in staff meetings, department meetings, and staff committees.
13. Maintains productivity and quality standards established by federal guidelines and St Louis County FQHC-LAL.
14. Follows St Louis County FQHC-LAL Clinician Best Practices and policies.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions:

1. Attends Providers, staff, and agency meetings, as necessary.
2. Attends CME sessions as required.
3. Completes Peer Review and education sessions as required.

• Participates in record review and quality improvement programs.
• Makes appropriate referrals.
