Practice Highlights:

• 16-18 patients per day
• 34 hours of direct patient care, 6 hours of administrative time. 4 day work week option

Job Description:

• Evaluates and treats low to moderate risk obstetrical patients for antepartum, labor, and postpartum care.
• Triages patients to appropriate level of care when outside of the CNMs scope of practice; includes ambulatory clinic encounters, hospital setting, and via phone.
• Evaluates patients for labor; admits to the hospital and manages labors of low to moderate risk patients

What You Will Do:

You will provide full scope midwifery care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This includes supporting women and families through some of life’s most meaningful moments.

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing antepartum, labor, birth, and postpartum care to low and moderate risk obstetrical patients
• Managing labors, admitting patients, and supporting physiologic birth
• Triaging and evaluating patients in clinic, hospital settings, and by phone
• Promoting preventive care, reproductive health, gynecologic care, and family centered education

Schedule and Practice Model:

• Clinic schedule with eight-hour clinic days
• Twelve-hour call shifts at Presbyterian Hospital with days and nights shared evenly across the team
• A supportive team that includes CNMs, APCs, and physicians
• A midwife led practice with physician backup available when needed

• A graduate of an ACNM accredited midwifery program with a master’s degree
• A Certified Nurse Midwife with two years of experience preferred
• Passionate about full scope midwifery and patient centered care

• National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program

Physicians practicing at eligible sites may qualify for federal student loan repayment through the NHSC program, offering up to $75,000 in tax free loan repayment for a two year service commitment at an approved site in a designated shortage area.

Participation is competitive and subject to federal approval and funding availability.

• New Mexico Physician Tax Credit

Eligible physicians practicing in New Mexico may be eligible for a state income tax credit of up to $10,000 per year, based on program requirements. Eligibility and certification are determined by the State of New Mexico.

• New Mexico Health Professional Loan Repayment Program

Physicians practicing in designated shortage areas may be eligible for state funded student loan repayment, offering up to $75,000 per year in loan assistance with a required service commitment. Participation is competitive and subject to state approval and funding availability.

New Mexico residents may be eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship, which can cover up to 100% of tuition and required fees for those pursuing a certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree at a New Mexico public college or university.
